Mid-western born, my ethic growing up embraced the modernism of Frank Lloyd Wright, Louis Sullivan and the Prairie School. Years in Chicago and New York increased my passion for the hybrid energies of regional, local and specific interactions, imbuing my practice with an increasing attention to the here and now, to nature and to being within the constraints of a physical structure.

The edge between two and three dimensions continues to delight. As such the work tends to parlay in relief sculpture, often blurring the boundaries between drawing, painting and sculpture.

I also make food and dishes, expressions of hospitality, conviviality and relational aesthetics. I make artifacts. The dishes can be seen here - bowls and plates. Within the realm of the dishes ceremony plays a role. The Mala Meal Project is an extension of that process.
